Ultimately, with its attempts at humor, horror and intrigue, No Gods definitely sets itself apart as one of the more serious independent titles I’ve picked up in a long time. It’s ambitious, challenging and fun, and checks off all the criteria that make up interesting reading. While the subject matter of the book has the potential to put a lot of people off from reading this story, I believe it also has the capacity to interest a wide variety of readers at the same time. If you get the chance, definitely acquire a copy for yourself. And if you happen to be at a con where Carson has set up, take the opportunity to talk shop with him. The guy is a font of information, has great opinions on the comics industry, and—as it turns out—is one hell of a writer.
